The Theory Test                                                                                       

You must pass the theory test to get a provisional license. The theory test consists of multiple choice questions on the rules of the road. Test questions are taken from a database of 743 questions, which are published in book and CD-ROM formats and are available from bookshops and from the Driver Theory Testing Service.

   40 questions, you must answer 35 correctly.

   The full set of questions available is in "Driver Theory Test" handbook/CD-ROM.

    Identification is needed in order to do the test, e.g. passport, student id with
      photo.

   The test is done at a touch screen computer.

   A 15-minute practice session is allowed before you take the actual test.

   The test takes 45 minutes.

   The test is scored automatically and results are made available to you immediately.
     You will receive a pass certificate for your theory test at the test centre.

   If you fail, re-apply. The same fee applies for subsequent tests.
